Fishkill Ridge - What a difference a week makes! We were at Mt. Beacon the week before and found only tiny patches of snow and a lot of ice. A week went by and when we arrived at Beacon's neighbor, Fishkill Ridge, on Groundhog Day, we were surprised with the amount of snow on the ground.
Sheets of ice hid beneath the white fluff and found ourselves precariously grabbing trees and rocks as we pulled ourselves up to the top. Nevertheless, the snow was a welcomed challenge as we trekked along. It was gloriously exhausting. The views were familiar - the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge and Hudson River - but still decidedly different - from our previous week's hike.
This was one of the hikes where a warm beverage is calling your name and getting back to the car feels absolutely great. Very satisfying.
We hope to see you on a future Proactive social hike! Be proactive, join the adventure.
