Claudius Smith's Den feat. Almost Perpendicular

Claudius Smith’s Den was the refuge of a Tory-loyalist outlaw at large in Revolutionary-era downstate New York. Before his execution in 1779, he was rumored to have hidden his personal treasure in and around the den and the surrounding area of modern-day Harriman State Park. Great views of Sterling Forest are found on the ledge above the den. Additional views of the surrounding forest are available at Almost Perpendicular and the Tuxedo Overlook on Pine Hill. 

Sturdy footwear and appropriate outdoor attire required. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. We will hike rain or shine barring extraordinarily dangerous conditions such as lightning, hurricane, blizzard etc.
