About the Event

Difficulty: Moderate

Distance: Approx. 6 miles

Dunderberg is a word meaning “thunder mountain”, named so for the frequent thunderstorms encountered by early Dutch settlers in the area. The route utilizes sections of the unfinished Dunderberg Spiral Railway as well as a small portion of the 1777 trail: a route used by Sir Henry Clinton to attack the Revolutionary War forts of Montgomery and Clinton.

Sturdy footwear and appropriate outdoor attire required. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. We will hike rain or shine barring extraordinarily dangerous conditions such as lightning, hurricane, blizzard etc.
