Giant Stairs

[MODERATE] Traverse remnants of rockfalls on the way to ruins, a 40-foot waterfall, and views of the Lower Hudson Valley. This route will straddle the border of New Jersey and New York -- descending from Closter, New Jersey to the Hudson River before eventually re-emerging above the cliffs in Rockland County, New York. The Giant Stairs section is a long, horizontal rock scramble that will call for the use of hands. Heavy elevation loss is required to access this section, which ends with a climb from the ruins to High Gutter Point.
