Top of the Gunks

Difficulty: MODERATE

Distance: 9.0 miles/1700 ft gain

Time: 4 hours walk-time

[MODERATE] Get up to the top of the Shawangunk Ridge - High Point - while hitting Verkeerderkill Falls, Sam's Point, and other Gunkery along the way. Aside from some sections that involve rock scrambling, much of the route will take us along carriage roads, making the mileage far less strenuous than other long hikes. 

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the execution of this event may be altered to preserve the health and safety of all involved. As new information is made available we my choose to change the time, location, route, capacity, social distancing guidelines, required PPE, etc. Any alterations will be communicated to registrants via email and social media. Our waiver has been updated to include language acknowledging the possible health risk that is presented by congregating amidst a global pandemic. Following the most recent recommendations from health officials and state governments, we will include particular safety guidelines for each event in the final email sent to registrants prior to the event.
