About the Event

Difficulty: Easy

Distance: Approx. 3 miles

Time: 1.5 hours

Originally named Foxcroft, the Van Slyke Estate was created in the early 1900s. It passed through multiple owners before being abandoned. The stone water tower that served the property is surprisingly well-preserved and is among the first stops along our route. The estate’s castle -- its central feature --  was eventually set on fire by vandals and destroyed. It sits on a point that overlooks Ramapo Lake, a 120-acre body of water that was dammed in the late 1800s.

Sturdy footwear and appropriate outdoor attire required. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. We will hike rain or shine barring extraordinarily dangerous conditions such as lightning, hurricane, blizzard etc.
